You have taken the first step to a healthier YOU! To make things easier, we have compiled a basic outline and some helpful tips for your juice cleanse program. We hope this will answer any questions you might have about what to do before, during and after.
*Please consult your Physician or Wellness Professional prior to cleansing to address any specific health conditions.*
To maximize the success of your cleanse, we recommend you begin on either Thursday, Saturday or Monday.
In order to provide freshly pressed juice, we ask for a minimum of 24 hours notice (ideally 48 hours) from the day you wish to pickup your cleanse. During checkout, please specify your desired pickup date in the field provided. Should you need to change your pickup date or time, please notify us via email at info@blendzjuicebar.com or through the contact section on this website.
PICKUP:
Blendz Juice Bar
1280 Centaur Village Drive
Suite 2
Lafayette, CO 80026
Your juice cleanse will be ready at the above location at the specified time. We ask that you adhere to the scheduled pickup window. While we will accommodate any scheduled pickup window, we ask you to be aware that if you schedule pickup between 11am and 1pm, you may end up waiting momentarily to receive your cleanse as these are our busiest hours.
Your juices will be delivered to you frozen. Remember to put your juices into your freezer as quickly as possible so that they do not have the opportunity to melt during transit. Should you live far away, please note so in your order so that we can provide you with a chilled receptacle for transport.
PRIOR TO STARTING YOUR CLEANSE:
The more prepared you are, the better your cleanse will be. For an optimal cleansing experience, we recommend you include these healthy habits during the three days leading up to your program:
• To help purify your body before you start your cleanse, begin each day by drinking a glass of warm water with the juice of one lemon and a maximum of one-half teaspoon of cayenne (optional). This increases the rate of detoxification by opening the circulatory system and alkalizing bodily fluids.
• Make an extra effort to hydrate throughout the day with filtered non-carbonated water (at least two liters per day). Drinking water helps set the stage for a smoother cleanse because it allows your cells to eliminate toxins more readily and decreases fatigue and reducing food cravings.
• 48 hours prior to the intended start of your cleanse, you will remove your DAY ONE juices and put them in the refrigerator to allow them time to dethaw. It will take anywhere between 24 to 48 hours to fully defrost, you will want to take note of how long your juices take to defrost in your refrigerator and adjust the process accordingly. The day following your removal of Day ONE juices, you will remove Day TWO and put them into the refrigerator, giving them time to dethaw and be ready for consumption on Day TWO of your cleanse. You will continue in this fashion until all of your juices are prepped for use in your cleanse.
AVOID THESE:
Eliminating the following substances from your diet ahead of time will make it easier once your cleanse begins! If giving up wheat completely feels too drastic, try staying away from refined starches like white bread, white rice, and pasta. This may sound like a lot but your body will thank you for it in the end! Keep in mind that you will have plenty of other cleanse-friendly foods to eat.
• Alcohol
• Nicotine
• Meat and Seafood
• Dairy and Eggs
• Sugar
• Processed foods
• Wheat and refined carbohydrates (bread, white rice, pasta, etc.)
• Caffeinated and diuretic drinks (green tea is a good substitute for coffee leading up to your cleanse)
ADD THESE:
• Steamed Vegetables
• Salads
• Fruits
• Smoothies (try and add a green vegetable like kale or spinach to your smoothies, you can purchase pre prepared smoothies from Blendz as well. If you would like to explore this option, please let us know!)
• Fresh Juices (its ideal to try to start drinking a juice a day leading up to your cleanse. You can purchase additional juices for this purpose should you so choose)
• Gluten-free grains like quinoa, amaranth and millet
DURING YOUR JUICE CLEANSE:
Make sure to freeze your juices as soon as possible and allow them to remain in the freezer until you are ready to begin your cleanse. Because our juices are unpasteurized, it is essential that you start your cleanse as soon as your Day ONE juices have dethawed in the refrigerator. This typically takes 24-48 hours depending upon your appliance so plan accordingly.
Once dethawed, our juices have a shelf life of about 24 hours. Be sure to give your juice a good shake to ensure that you get every bit of the vital nutrients it has to offer.
Remember to "chew your juice." The action of chewing mixes saliva with the juice, allowing your body to more easily absorb and utilize the nutrients.
HOW YOUR DAY WILL LOOK:
Now you’re ready to drink your first juice! We encourage you to start each day with a glass of room temperature, filtered water with the juice of a lemon in it. This helps jump start your metabolism and get your gut ready for the cleanse. You will then drink your first juice and each subsequent juice at two to three hour intervals, consuming your last juice about two hours before you go to bed.
End your day right: At least an hour before bedtime, consume a cup or two of hot cleansing herbal tea.
Our juice cleanse is designed to replace meals and snacks, however, if you prefer, you can certainly eat along the way. We recommended items from the list above should you feel the urge to eat. Ideally, sticking to items that are contained in the juices (fruits, vegetables, leafy greens, soaked nuts, gluten free whole foods, etc.) is a great option, however, there is no "right way" to cleanse. This is YOUR cleanse and the benefit to your health and wellbeing will be greater if you listen to your body.
To ensure that your cleansing process is as effective and enjoyable as possible please make sure to drink plenty of water in between juices. It is important to avoid alcohol, caffeine, and nicotine. You may experience some detox symptoms such as fatigue or headaches. Every person’s body reacts differently when cleansing. You may or may not experience these detox symptoms. Either way it’s important to:
• Keep hydrating. Drink at least eight glasses of filtered non-carbonated water in addition to your juices. Sometimes including lemon in your water can alleviate some of the more uncomfortable detoxifying symptoms. Herbal decaffeinated teas are another great option.
• Get plenty of rest. A cleanse can be tiring.
• Keep your schedule as light as possible and try to get to bed early! Listen to your body. It will tell you when to slow down.
• Take time to eliminate – During a cleanse your body releases accumulated toxins that may have built up for years. It is important to eliminate the toxins that are being released from your system during the cleansing process.
WAYS TO RELEASE THE TOXINS:
• Take a detoxification bath: Your skin is the largest cleansing organ in the body. When you sweat, your skin eliminates more toxins and waste than the colon and kidneys combined! During your cleanse, try to soak with 1-2 cups of Epson salt, mineral salts or sea salts for about 15 minutes. The Epsom salts draw lactic acid out of the muscle and the sulfur elements help detoxify and draw the acid and toxins out of your body.
• Visit a sauna: Spending about 30 minutes in a sauna will stimulate therapeutic sweating and you will allow the skin to act as a third kidney by eliminating toxins.
• Dry Skin Brushing: Dry brushing will open up the pores of your skin and allow for optimal performance of your sweat glands. This can accentuate the process of eliminating acids from the cells in your body. Keep in mind that your skin can eliminate more than one pound of waste acid each day from your body. Dry brushing is especially effective after a shower, bath, or trip to the sauna.
• Breathe properly: Getting fresh air is important for a healthy mind and body, but breathing properly is also an important factor that is often overlooked. Breathing from the diaphragm often accelerates the removal of physical and emotional waste and will help give you relief and clarity. This can also reduce anxiety and help remove the carbon dioxide from your respiratory system. Try taking a few seconds every day to relax and take a few deep breaths.
AFTER YOUR JUICE CLEANSE: Congratulations – you’ve hit the reset button and detoxified your system! Now, we want to make sure that you are prepared to maintain and maximize the effects. You are still in a detox mode for a few days after ending your cleanse so be mindful of what you put into your system. Make sure to drink plenty of water and pace yourself as you slowly reintroduce simple, whole foods. We recommend starting with salads, smoothies, soups, and juices while avoiding processed foods and animal products until at least three days post cleanse. Optimal post-cleanse foods are the same as pre-cleanse diet suggestions: Steamed vegetables, salads, smoothies, fresh juices and gluten-free grains like quinoa, amaranth and millet. Finally, don’t forget to give yourself a pat on the back. You are on your way to a cleaner, healthier you!
